'Thinking Day Rally' was conducted on 24 Feb 2013 at Tonekala, Avadi. Cubs and Bulbuls from Classes IV & V participated in various activities and games. The results are:
'Bursting the Balloon' - Sai Kishan (Class V) bagged the First Prize 'Arts and Crafts' - Shreya (Class V) bagged the First Prize
The children also enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the Cubs and Bulbuls from various schools.

The Annual Scouts and Guides Camp was conducted at Tonekala Camp, Avadi from 22nd to 24th Feb 2013. 19 Scouts and 06 Guides (of Classes VIII & IX) from our school attended 'The Founder's Birthday Rally' and 'Patrol Leader Training'. The 8km-rally was based on the topic 'Save Nature'. The children also won the following prizes at the District Level:
Divya Priya (Class VIII) won the First Prize in Painting Our Guides Team won the First Prize in Group Song.

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, Ambattur, conducted a painting competition on 03 Feb '13 and our children bagged all the three prizes. The winners are :

Second Prize   Ragavendra
Chiranjeevi- IV 'A'
Third Prize Udaya - IV 'B'

The winners also bagged the trophy for 'The Best School Par Excellence'

Vivekananda School, Ambattur, in commemoration with the 150th birthday celebration of Swami Vivekananda, conducts various competitions on 31 Jan '13. The results are :

Children were made to appreciate the biodiversity in and around the campus through various activities such as bird watching in the early hours (from 6 to 8am), identifying butterflies with their scientific/common names and also search for reptiles in the campus. Star gazing was also organized for the students by the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre, Chennai.

With the help of Ms.Bhanumathi, Pavai Foundation, our children also learnt to make puppets and use them effectively in conveying the importance of the ecosystem. The stay, the food, the camp fire and the sharing of knowledge between peers made the camp very memorable.

Students of Commerce Group visited Kotak Mahindra Bank on 08 Dec '12, to obtain practical knowledge on various banking procedures like account opening, filling up deposit and withdrawal challans and pass book entry.

10 students from Class VIII and IX participated in 'The Hindu Young World Quiz 2012' at Kamarajar Arangam, Chennai, on 07 Dec '12. About 170 schools participated from South India.

The 'Manida Neyam' foundation conducted a painting competition on 28 Oct '12 for primary children. S.Harini - II 'B' and Tharun Karthik -II 'A' bagged the second prize.

An awareness programme on Diabetes was held on 09 Oct 12 at AV hall for the Students of Std IX and X. The students were made to understand the cause, symptoms and preventive measures of diabetes with the help of a powerpoint presentation by Dr.Jayabal, General Physician and Diabetologist.He also addressed some doubts raised by the students. A random blood sugar test for staff was also carried out.

Six students of Class IX attended a symposium on 'Terra Marina - Chennai coastline and us' conducted by The School, on 15th and 16th Nov '12. The programme enabled students to understand various problems faced by the coastline and the importance of conserving it.

The District level Inter school (solo) music competition was held at Vel Tech Estate Matriculation School, Avadi, on 14th Nov '12. The results are:

We are proud to initiate 'Story Telling Sessions by Grandparents' from 15 Nov '12. We thank our senior citizens for their valuable time, energy and enthusiasm.

Ms. Reeba Mathew & Ms. Geetha Chandran attend a workshop on Life Skills conducted by DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) at Sethu Bhaskara Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chenai on 30th Oct and 02nd Nov. The teachers were provided training to impart knowledge to students on Life Skills.

A.S. Rohit and M. Swathi (School Pupil Leaders) attend 'Head Table 2012-Chennai', a Student Leadership Forum, conducted by the Institute of Experiential Learning and Mahindra World School, on 03 Nov '12. The forum discussion focused on Ethical Practice and Transparency and served as a platform for our student leaders to interact with eminent thought leaders.

Sir Ramaswami Mudaliar Higher Secondary School, Ambattur, conducted Inter School Elocution Competition in English on 12 Oct '12. Shane Mathew Philip of XI-C won a consolation prize.

We are proud and immensely glad to announce the launch of 'KIDS TO KIDS', an inititative by our school children to help the poor and needy kids.

Our Principal made a readiness visit to Rani Public School, Calicut, as an Assessor, representing QCI (Quality Council of India).

A conference organised by XSEED on "Adapting to change - School of tomorrow" was held on 15 Sep 12 at Rani Meyyammai Hall, Egmore, Chennai.The conference was organised to place quality elementary school education on the national agenda. Pragmatic ideas for private schools to meet the new needs of children, regulators and society, were discussed by eminent educationalists. The highlight of the event was the video conferencing, where Prof. Noel Tichy (University of Michigan) was invited to address the gathering.

A team of volunteers from Cognizant conducted a career guidance programme - 'Junior Achievers' for Class XI, on 06 Oct '12. The programme focussed on various career options available. The students felt the sessions were interesting, informative and served as an eye opener.

Health Officers from The Corporation of Chennai conducted an awareness programme for Classes VI to VIII on 'Dengue', on 10 Sep '12.

The Nature Club is glad to revive the compost pit which was created inside our campus by MCRC in 2009. Ms. Sivasankari and Mr. Prasad from MCRC addressed our students on the importance of earthworm and its role in biodegradation. They also initiated the making of vermicompost bed. Children enjoyed the hands-on experience with earthworms and the making of vermicompost bed.

WWF (World Wide Fund for nature) conducted Wild Wisdom Quiz at city level, on 14 Sep '12 at Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya Vidya Mandir, Mylapore, Chennai. 17 schools participated and our students, Karen Jaison-VIII 'B' and MelvinJaison- VI 'A', bagged the Third Prize.Congratulations winners!

Ms. Usha Sethuraman attends a workshop on ELT at British Council, Chennai on 22nd & 23rd Aug '12. The workshop involved various activities such as Error Correction, Listening Skills and Reading & Writing.

A mock drill on 'Fire Evacuation' was conducted for the KG children on 28 Aug '12.

The Tamil Nadu Bharat Scouts and Guides conducted a test camp for State Rajyapuraskar at Sri Mahaganesa Vidyasala, Ambattur, Chennai, from 17th to 20th Aug '12. 10 Guides and 05 Scouts attended this camp. The State officials conducted examinations on First Aid, use of Compass, Map reading etc. The camp also paved way in developing life skills such as, working in a team, sharing with each other and helping others.

Class XI went on an educational tour to Kodaikkanal from 27th to 31st July '12. The students were trekked and toured around 'Kaleidoscopic Kodai' that left them mesmerized. They also shared that they felt lucky to have been accompanied by the teachers from Cambridge, Ms. Amanda Stec and Ms. Victoria Evans.

Our school, in collaboration with MOP Vaishnav College, has organised a programme for parents of KG and Primary students, to understand the concept of age appropriate healthy eating. On 17th August, nutrition experts prepared and provided snacks for LKG & UKG and lunch for UKG children.This enabled the parents to get an idea of what they must be feeding their children with. The programme will be conducted in 03 batches as per the schedule given below: On 22 Aug '12 - for parents of KG children On 17 Aug '12 - for parents of Primary children - Batch I On 22 Aug '12 - for parents of Primary children - Batch II

Ms.Reeba Anna Mathew attended a workshop in IIT on ' mainstreaming ecology into the school curriculum', from 16th to 18th July '12.

TI School believes in working with Parents, in developing a holistic child. The LKG orientation programme for parents is a platform to understand various types of parenting needs, systems, initiatives and the teaching-learning process. To help the parents of our LKG children, to understand the system better, orientation programme was conducted in 03 sessions on the 11th, 13th & 18th July '12.

Investiture Ceremony 2012-2013 was held on 19 July '12 at 8:30am.

Our school, in collaboration with Cambridge University & Helga Todd Foundation, UK, launches Teacher Exchange Programme, the first of its kind in South India. We are proud to have Ms.Amanda Stec and Ms.Victoria Evans as a part of our team, from 02nd July to 17th August 2012. We wish them success and a happy stay in Chennai.

Mr. Sriram Ramakrishnan (TI Alumnus 2007) a Graduate from NIT Trichy (B.Arch- Gold medalist) conducted a Career Guidance programme for our XII students on 16 June '12, from 8:30 to 10 am. Mr. Sriram spoke on various requirements in choosing B.Arch, its scope as well as its challenges. He also stressed on the importance of communication and life skills which students need to develop.

Principal Ms. Sheela Ragavan presented a paper on 'Assessment, Accreditation and Reaccreditation' at a National Seminar conducted by Mother Teresa University, Kodaikkanal, on Quality in Education with reference to Centres of Higher Education, on 9th & 10th June 2012.

Primary teachers from Maths, English, Social Studies and Tamil department attended a workshop on 09 June 2012, at Sethu Baskara Higher Secondary School, on implementation of CCE.

Ms. Ambili.U and Ms. Usha.S attended a meeting on implementation of CCE, at Sethu Baskara Higher Sec.School, Ambattur on 12 June '12.

26 students from Classes IX to XII attended 'Kalaa Mela 2012' at NSN Matriculation Hr.Sec.School, Chitlapakkam, Chennai, on 13 July '12.
