Bliss in Kodai

"I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it."

Patience is the key, because when the right time comes, you know it's a beautiful feel. The Nature Club and the Info Bee Club organized an educational trip to Kodaikanal for the students of classes 9 and 10 from 26th to 30th of June 2019. A total of 43 students, accompanied by Mr. Arunkumar, Mr. Shankar Narayanan, Mrs. Venitia and Mrs. Yolanda had taken off for the trip to the Queen of hills in southern India, Kodaikanal. On 27th, being the first day at kodaikanal, they visited the Shola Forests followed by a short trek to Vattakanal water falls. Mr. Vijay led the trail into the forest making it very joyfully adventurous and informative. They also visited the Palani Hills Conservatory Council which was led by Mr. Bala. He quoted, "The health of the hills is the wealth of the wills."

They were surrounded by different species of flora, fauna and a geographical terrain that is never to be missed. They even learnt about honeybee foraging, a truly blissful experience. Way back into the history, the students had spent opportune time in an ancient cemetery with Mrs. Beula.

The second day was initiated with bird watching. It is said that in order to see birds it is necessary to keep your eyes wide open and the mouth tightlipped. The students were able to sight some of the rarest and most beautiful birds. They were also privileged to visit the Indian Institute of Astro Physics (IIAP). This quarter of Astro physics in Kodaikanal significantly deals with the sun. Ms. Deepika briefed the students on Sun and shared some fantastic facts about it. They also had the pleasure to meet Mr. Ashish, Mr. Kamal and Mr. Dinesh who briefed us on the functioning of Meteorological Department. They also had an opportunity to observe the sun through the telescope. By the evening, they visited the Bryant Park which was an amusing and a pleasing one. They spent quality time creating memories and having loads of fun.

A campfire was then blazed and all surrounded the fire singing songs, dancing and had a joyous evening. They also celebrated few of their friends' birthdays by cutting the cake. Towards the end of the day a review was organized in which the students exchanged their experiences.

Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit, there lies the answer to the mystery why we climb. No words can ever explain the bliss that you experience through the trails of these forest climbs. On the third day they had a long trek towards Dolphin nose which was also led by Mr. Vijay. They then visited the Rose Garden which was again a place with beauty and mesmerizing majestic flowers. On their way back, they had a glimpse at the Shenbaganur museum.

Summing up, they had a good stay at Kodaikanal, having lots of fun, getting loads of knowledge and experiencing some adventure with soothing surroundings.

"An expectation doesn't always become a reality, but... Unexpected moments make beautiful memories. May our time with nature lead us to ourselves..."
