"Mathematics rightly viewed, possesses not only truth but also beauty"
Mathematical journey (Math Day) on 07/01/2020 by the students of Class IX was so entertaining and absorbing.Out thinking caps were ignited with the Inaugural speech by our beloved Principal. We had the ever inspiring Math educator and consultant Mr. Athmaraman amidst us as the Chief Guest of the day's event. The students were actively involved in various fun filled activities like Integer game, Treasure hunt, Calendar puzzzle etc. Students were divided into twelve groups and each group was named with a Greek symbol like 'Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Phi etc.'. In the integer game, students were asked to interpret the given arithemetic expressions with appropriate mathematical operations.Puzzles like Sudoku, factorizarion, pentominoes were given to solve in which the logical power of students was brought into picture. In the treasure hunt, the students were given mathematical clues which they used in cracking them. This was then followed by a quiz which was really an exciting and electifying one. A fe w students got qualified and prizes were distributed for the winners of the quiz. Yet another important session was the presentation done by our students on the topic "Visualisation in Maths" which they had already presented at the 54th Annual Conference conducted by The Association of Mathematics Teachers of India (AMTI) was held in Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari from Dec 2729, 2019.
It was very interesting with puzzles, games, calendar puzzle, quiz and treasure hunt. Entire day engaged distraction and unlooked for result. It helped them to develop the skill of observation, logical thinking, patience, visualization, constructivism, contextualization, computation …. most of all, simply the joy of mathematical journey.
