Report on Youth Parliament held at MCC Higher School Harington Rd:

Parliament is the decision making body of India.

MCC had offered a platform for students to be a part of the decision making body. Workshop was conducted by the MCC teachers to explain the proceedings in the Parliament along with the escort teachers.

Prominent MP’s were called to make the sessions even more interesting and interactive. Children asked their doubts regarding the proceedings and the current situations and got their doubts clarified.

The children chose their roles. From our school 5 students participated from 9th standard.

Aditya Sai 9B Minister of Roadways presented Amendment on Motar Vehicle Act.
SB Keerthana 9B Parliamentary Affairs Minister presented Bill on Parliamentarians Performance Analysis Bill which was passed on the floor of the house.
Sri Krithika 9A Private Members Amendment on Right to Education Act this was also passed on the floor of the house to be taken as bill in the next session.
Sanskriti Sukkal & S. Harini 9B Presented on Question Hour to

  • Minister of Roadways and Transport

The final sessions were on 20th and 21st of October. Former finance minister P. Chidabaram had inaugurated the function.

Session 5:

Seven bills were debated and three were selected for the final discussion. Our school bill 'Annual Performance Anaylsis bill' has been remodified from Right to Recall bill and it has been accepted for final debate/discussion.

Two amendments have been selected from our school, one on Motor Vehicle act and the other on Conservation Act.

From our school, three students are in the ruling party and two in the opposition party.
