Community Lunch Std V

With all our efforts from T.I to bring about oneness and equality among all students, the school took an initiative and organized a 'community lunch' for students of STD V on the 13th of July 2018. Children were asked to carry a variety of food items (based on their choice) which was informed through a circular. The community lunch started with a prayer followed by parent volunteers and teachers serving food. Children enjoyed the food with their friends and the teachers around. A discussion on the nutritive value of the food items, the importance of doing one's own chores and keeping the surrounding clean were highlighted. The students were taught values of respecting the effort of others and experienced the joyful attitude of sharing food and not to waste it.

"What we choose to share defines what we are."

It was a contented moment for parent volunteers, teachers and children.

Report on Work shop - Heart of the matter - KJI Initiative

The event 'Heart of the matter' - KJI Initiative was organized on the 19th & 20th July 2018 at Vidya Mandir, Mylapore.

The two day workshop titled 'Heart of the Matter' focussed on the developmental stages of children in general and with the age group of 14 - 21 in particular, as the specific age group is considered as a period where children begin to build their thoughts of universality and connect with the world around.

It also threw light on how the adults that include parents, teachers, and society surrounding them take the role of a guide and steer the children by understanding their physical, emotional and psychological frame to nurture in them a confiding relationship.

The workshop provided opportunity to engage with medical doctors who aided our understanding of the specific age group by discussing their needs.

Recommendations to the school:

  • Maximum student engagement in project work that facilitates the 4Cs, namely critical thinking, communication, collaborative learning and creativity
  • Build resilience within students in order to adapt change and be able to deal with adversity and failure
  • Build structures that restore peace and well being
  • Create spaces that enable conflict resolution
  • Constitute a safety committee to help children out of disturbing experiences

Art Club Inauguration

"Creativity takes courage" - Henry Matisse

The Art Club was inaugurated on 7th July 2018 by Mr. Robinson, founder of 'Icon writing' and an educationist. Mr. Robinson and our Principal Mr. D Senthil Kumar unveiled the Art Club board. This was followed by a workshop on Icon writing and line drawing conducted by Mr. Robinson.

Students were engaged in creating different line drawing practices and portrait icon drawings. Mr. Robinson, motivated the students by promising that their creative art work could be copyrighted and preserved.

Infobee Club

The event was organized on the 6th of July 2018. Mr. Rajesh Vaidhya (senior member of Editorial board of 'Pattam' children's magazine from the 'Dinamalar' group) presented a mesmerizing and motivating speech while inaugurating the 'Infobee Club' activities for the academic year 2018-19.

The inauguration commenced with a prayer song by the Infobee children followed by welcoming the gathering by the club President K. Paripoorani of std. XII.

Mr. Rajesh Vaidhya shared his experience as a youngster and the milestones he crossed to develop into a successful person. He highlighted the importance of reading books and gaining knowledge through reading. Students were spell bound with his oration

Mr. Rajesh Vaidhya stated the club activities planned for the year 2018-19 by un-wrapping a new book symbolically.

Theatre Club Inauguration

THEATRE CLUB was inaugurated on 7th July 2018.

Club activities help us to be more creative and innovative. It gives scope for a good social life by making us feel self confident. It not only keeps us united but gives us learning experiences.

Our club inauguration commenced with a prayer.

The Chief guest Mr.Gowtham Raj (Alumnus of TI) graced the occasion.

Two short skits were performed based on the theme, "Modern Society" and "Child Labour."

Mr.Gowtham Raj engaged all the students by his mesmerizing skills.

Few videos on Shakespeare as a playwright and different kinds of drama were screened. The President of the club listed out the activities planned for the academic year 2018-2019.

Mr.Gowtham Raj encouraged students to participate in as many activities as possible and keep the club lively.

The office bearers, The President and the Vice- President promised to keep up the quality of the club for the students and parents.

The Vice-President concluded the inaugural function with the vote of thanks.

Report on Breast Cancer Awareness programme for lady staff

Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in most cities in India; At T.I we decisively deem that having the right knowledge of cancer and its treatment is half the war won already. Our aim is to provide right guidance and truthful knowledge on everything related to Breast cancer to our women faculty, Thus T.I has organized Breast Cancer awareness programme for women on 24th July 2018.

The resource person Mrs. Vijaya Mahendran (Voluntary educator at Vasantha memorial cancer centre,Ashok nagar, Chennai) divulged a power point presentation on Breast cancer which included the risk & causative factors, symptoms, different stages of Breast cancer, clinical presentation, modes of treatment and preventive measures.

Mrs. Vijaya Mahendran demonstrated procedures for self examining the breasts using a model.

The speaker highlighted that all women aged 40 and above take up mammogram annually.

The queries were addressed at the end of session.

Report of Toppers felicitation programme - X, XI, XII

Toppers prize distribution for classes X, XI and XII was held on 26.07.18. Mrs. Kamakshi, academic advisor AMMF schools and Mr. Rajagopal, secretary AMMF graced the occasion.

The felicitation Programme commenced with a prayer song "Arunagiri Thirupugazh" and followed by prize distribution.

Mrs. Kamakshi and Mr. Rajagopal distributed certificates and citation to the winners.

Rajapuraskar awards were also honored by Mr. Rajagopal. There were 37 participants and fortunate enough that the entire crew was eligible for Rajapuraskar award.

Mr. Rajagopal delivered a speech to inspire and encourage the toppers at the end of the session.

He also read the message remitted by the correspondent.

Mrs. Meenakshi Murugappan congratulated all the achievers, especially their parents and teachers for being their strength throughout

It was a moment filled with pride for all the parents, grandparents and teachers.

"It's MINE!" We have all heard children scream this at one point or another.

With all our efforts from T.I to bring about oneness and equality among all students, the school took an initiative and organized a 'Community Lunch' for students of Std VI on 20th of July, 2018.

The parents took active participation in the event and supported the school by cooking the food items planned by the teachers

Class teachers along with parent volunteers served the food to the children after the prayer. The children appreciated sharing food with their acquaintances.

The Oxford teachers Ms. Pippa James and Ms. Hannah Patel took part in this event and were delighted to interact with the children.

The class teachers briefed and taught the students values of respecting the effort of others, joyful attitude of sharing food and not to waste food

Report on Visit to "Utthiramerur"

The event was organized on July 14, 2018.

Forty two active students of the Heritage Club from classes 6th to 9th participated in the trip to Uthiramerur.

Uthiramerur was originally a brahmin settlement established by the pallava king Nandivarman II. They were first taken to the sundaravaradar temple which is three storeyed.

Children observed Lord Vishnu in 3 different postures. There were many inscriptions around the temple. The village was named as "Uthiramerur chathurvedhi mangalam".

A small tour around the village facilitated the visit to a few small temples.

It was astounding to capture the sand sculpture of "Dhuryodana".

The children engaged in casual interaction with the villagers. The Villagers explained about the sand sculpture and the occasion which is celebrated for about 18 days in the village once in three years.

The entire crew was taken to Vaikunta Perumal temple. The temple inscriptions of Uthiramerur are notable for their historical descriptions of the rural self-governance. It was interesting to know that they followed "Kudavolai Murai" to elect their leaders.

This trip provided a lot of experiential learning.

PTC Report of class - VI

Parent-Teacher conference for class VI was conducted on 13.7.18 (Friday) between 3 pm and 4 pm in the AV hall. The Vice Principal welcomed the gathering. The class teachers and subject teachers were introduced.

The class teacher of VI A Mrs. Jayashree Narayanan briefed about the X-seed curriculum, the five step learning and the additional activities to enhance the learning in children.

The class in-charge of VI B Mrs. Durgadevi N elucidated the initiatives adapted through field trips, teacher interact programmes, kids to kids etc.

The subject teachers shared the significant importance of their subjects and skills developed by children through various activities in the classrooms and labs.

A short documentary was screened to the parents which highlighted the impact of mobile phones.

The Queries were clarified by the Principal and Vice Principal.

The event was concluded with vote of thanks by the Principal.

Report on Quest 2018 - Prelims

The Social studies department conducted the 'Quest 2018' Prelims on 11.07.2018 (Tuesday). It was made obligatory for all students to participate in this Quest 2018.

The students of STD V - IX participated in their respective classes.

The teachers followed selection process in order to form a skillful school team, who will in turn represent the school in intra school competitions which will be followed by inter school competition.

Report on Training on Handling Optical Microscopes

The training on handling optical microscopes was organized on 10.07.18 at A. V HALL (T.I SCHOOL) from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm

The session was conducted by CARL ZEISS INDIA PVT LTD

Students of Class XI B (Biology) participated in this programme on handling optical microscopes. Mr .Amarnath and Mr. Palaniappan (Resource staff from CARL ZEISS INDIA PVT LTD) instigated the session with a brief presentation on the principles of microscope and their applications in research and industry.

Post the training session, children were given hands-on experience on operating the microscopes to observe micro-slides of plants and animal tissues.

It was certainly an empirical learning for the students.

Teacher Interact Programme – Inauguration 09.07.2018

The inauguration commenced with the invocation song “Pibare Rama Rasam” and with a divine prayer song “Bo Shambo”. The kuthuvilak was lit by Mrs. R. Kamakshi Advisor AMM schools, Mr. N. Rajashekaran S (Correspondent and secretary of SRM-HSS and VCHSS), Mr. Amos (Head master – SRM-HSS), Miss Lakshmi (AHM – SRM-HSS) .

Mr. D. Senthil Kumar - Principal, welcomed the gathering and Mrs. R. Kamakshi Advisor AMM schools addressed the gathering.

Ms. Hannah Patel (Economics Graduate - University of Leeds and pursuing PGCE at oxford university ) and Ms. Pippa James (Pursuing at oxford Brookes University with BA Honours degree in Primary education with QTS, PSHE accredited teacher) divulged their views and excitement on the program which is scheduled for the next eight weeks.

Mrs. Yolanda, Ms. Bhagya Lakshmi and Mrs. Sreelatha shared their experiences about the earlier visits of the Oxford teachers.

Mr Rajin A (One of the parents) spoke on the importance of such interactions with teachers of Oxford.

The School Pupil Leader Master Kevin Michael Woods delivered the vote of thanks.

Post the inauguration, a documentary of the school was screened for Ms. Hannah Patel and Ms. Pippa James. The members of the student council took them on a campus tour and enlightened them on different facilities and activities of our school.

During the later part of the day, the Principal T.I., along with the Section Heads and Section Coordinators met the Oxford teachers to comprehend the areas to be concentrated, the areas of expertise, the areas of keen interest and ways to arrive at a plan for the next eight weeks.

Astronomy Club – Inauguration 07.07.2018

The Astronomy Club was inaugurated on 07.07.2018 and the event was graced by Mr Dushyant (PG Asst - Physics faculty) and Mr. Hemanath (Alumnus of TI)

The club activities allow children to explore and experiment, and make them feel self-assured.

The club inauguration commenced with a prayer.

Mr. Dushyant explained the concept of space and related with appropriate models.

Mr. Hemnath made a power point presentation on humans and cosmic power.

Miss. Suchita A V screened stirring video clippings on interstellar and space.

The annual plan was shared with the children in order to enhance and encourage their participation, excitement, scope of learning and discover together

The club proposed an educational field trip to Birla Planetarium to view the lunar eclipse.

The President and the Vice- President assured to keep up on their quality and improvise performance among the students who are a part of the club.

Master M. Bala Adhitya concluded the event with the vote of thanks and guaranteed to exert his abilities for the club to acquire the goals set.

Report on Inauguration of Heritage club 2018

The Heritage Club for the academic year 2018-19 was inaugurated on the 7th of July 2018 (Saturday).

Mrs. Krishnapriya Ragavendar – Bharatanatiyam teacher at Vishwasikara Natyalaya and Ms. Divya Bharathi student of Mrs. Krishnapriya Ragavendar presided over the function.

The programme started with a prayer song by Miss. Bhargavi R of class VI. The event was followed by a charming Bharatanatiyam performance by Miss Bhargavi R of class VI , Miss Pragathi M and Miss Nithyasree S of class VI B.

The club president Miss. Meiyammai R M of class XII welcomed the gathering.

The Chief Guests shared their thoughts about the inaugural function. Mrs S Nirmala - teacher in-charge of Heritage Club briefed the students about the activities planned for the academic year 2018-19,

Report On NSN Menon Memorial Tournament

The N.S.N Menon Memorial Interschool Athletic Meet and Games competition was held on 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th July, 2018.

Over 46 schools across Chennai participated in the N.S.N tournament. There were fifty students who participated from T.I and bagged honors in various categories (Athletics, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess and Throw ball)

Report On Sharp Health Check-Up 2018

Health Check up for the academic year 2018-19 is fruitfully completed for all students from STD LKG to XII; it was scheduled to be conducted from 2nd July to 4th of July 2018. There were couple of dedicated doctors from SHARP-NGO who facilitated the event.

The safety coordinator along with Mr. Ravi Kumar organized the event. The student council members and volunteers from STD IX rallied around the event in a smooth manner by carrying out primary health check up for 1070 students out of 1240 students.

There were 170 students who were unable to participate due to absenteeism or were on duty; for those who have missed this event, T.I has re-organized the occasion on 12th of July 2018 to take benefit of the event.

Report on Inauguration of Film club 2018

Film Club 2018 was inaugurated on the 2nd of July by Mrs. Mary Bennet – Coordinator for Higher Secondary.

The intent of the Film club was elucidated by the Film club President, Shyam Shankar. Inspiring and motivational clippings were screened for classes XI and XII in the presence of high school teachers.

Post screening the documentary clips, the Principal addressed the students about standards and ethics that ought to be acquired by each one of them. The programme was concluded by screening the National anthem presented by deaf and dumb children.

Elocution Contest

Sethu Bhaskara organizes an elocution contest in Tamil and English to commemorate the first woman freedom fighter Veeramangai Velunachiyar on 07.07.2018. T.I provides opportunity for the best orators in town!!
