Rajapuraskar Pre-Test 2017-18 !!

As a part of Rajapuraskar pre-test, 11 scouts and 3 guides from our school underwent a rigorous training on “Ambulance Man badge” by St. John Ambulance at Sethu Baskara school on 24th and 25th of June 2017. This was organized by Ponneri Educational District Association.

The students were trained on the following areas :

  • Basic First-Aid
  • St. John Sling
  • Different types of bandages
  • First-Aid for bleeding, nose bleeding, head injuries
  • Transporting the victim to the hospital
  • Usage of Improvised stretcher
  • Heart Compression
  • First-aid for shock and fire accidents Etc

The students will be awarded with First Aid training certificate by St. John Ambulance.

International Yoga Day Celebration @ T.I on 21.06.2017

“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self and to the self”

Dr. Vijay Kumar was here with us today in the morning to educate the students of class VII and VIII on the importance of yoga in daily life

First he started with a theory session saying ’without gaining the knowledge of yoga, practicing yoga alone will not benefit’.

The crux of his session was

What is Yoga ?

  • YOGA means UNION : of body and mind / Jeevatma and Paramatma

What is the use of practicing yoga daily?

  • Controls and regulates all hormones in the body

BENEFITS

  • Artha yoga : (Sun & Moon ) balances the heat and cold energy in the body
  • Rajayoga & Gnana yoga: yoga of intelligence and knowledge
  • Kriyayoga: emotional purification
  • Bhakthi yoga: builds faith
  • Karma yoga: yoga of action

The theory session was followed by the practical session. The students learnt a couple of postures and yoga to keep them energetic and calm through the day

  • Alignment posture / stretching exercise: makes us brisk
  • Virabhadrasana: Encourages good circulation and respiration. Stretches your arms, legs, shoulders, neck, belly, groins and ankles. Energizes the entire body.
  • Trikonasana (Triangle pose) Stimulate and improve the function of blood through the entire body.
  • Pranayama (Inhale / exhale): relaxes the mind. While inhale concentrate on the forehead chakra and while exhale concentrate on the whole body. By doing us, mind gets relaxed and purified.

For students, especially before studying, they can do Pranayama for gaining concentration.

Parent Teacher Conference

Std II

Venue: A V Hall

Members present: Principal, Vice Principal, Head – Primary and teachers handling Std II

The teachers introduced themselves to parents and class teachers shared with parents the academic co curricular plan meant for the year. The principle focus was on the following areas.

  • Transition from Class I to Class II
  • Transition from Class I to Class II
  • Concrete learning incorporated through math lab , phonic based reading modules, value education, library classes ,life skills and field trips
  • Meeting schedules with teachers, section head and the principal
  • Open days and assessments planned for the year
  • New initiatives taken by the school Eurhythmy, brain gym exercise, phonic based reading modules and specially designed value education modules
  • Value integration through Kids to Kids , No TV day , Carbon footprint day, community lunch, cleanliness drive and Shramdhan day
  • Parent co-operation requested in providing regular study time
  • Rules pertaining to Leave letter and birthday celebration shared
  • the Head – Primary briefed on parental support in terms of keen observation of children and their needs / alternatives in terms of making the school ‘a green school’
  • The Principal reiterated the points on value integration, quality time with children and highlighted the benefits of encouraging questioning in children
  • The Principal asked for parents opinion on conduct of Assessments for classes I to III
  • Videos on positive parenting was screened and the Section Head and the Principal shared their views

Parent Sharing

  • “The Parent teacher conference conducted has moved to the next level in the bar of excellence” – a very formal approach

The induction programme commenced with a welcome address by the Principal followed by the screening of the school’s documentary. Power Point Presentations were made by the Accreditation coordinator and the Section heads. This highlighted the school’s journey in terms of:

  • Quality initiatives
  • Systems and processes in practice
  • Infra structural facilities
  • Academic offerings of different sections &
  • Value Integration to make wholesome individuals
