Chrysalis Day Programme 2021

Chrysalis day was conducted for Class VI to IX online. Despite the pandemic, students actively participated, and their projects were presented virtually on chrysalis world portal on 05/03/2021. Computer science teachers explained the process to students and had demonstrated each activity using compatible applications for mobile/tab/laptop/desktop. Chrysalis day activities like video making/editing, digital album making, mind map preparation, gif making, flip book was eye catching. PowerPoint with topics such as cyber law, ransom virus, mobile safety, Ethical use of social media, safe computing etc... created awareness on safe computing.

Report on Junior Heritage Club Activity

The Heritage club activity was conducted virtually on 27-3-21 for classes 4 & 5.

Teachers-In-Charge were Mrs. Rashi, Mrs. Sharmila, Mrs. Kamakshi and Mrs. Sivagama sundari.

To educate children about Agriculture, which is one of the most important occupations of the people of India, the activity was presented in the form of Power point Presentation which spoke about the meaning of agriculture, the different land forms, soil and seasons in India. Children were also briefed about different types of agriculture by showing related images.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the story on agriculture which was narrated by Mrs Kamakshi in Tamil.

The importance of types of soil and its conservation was explained to students through related pictures. A brief explanation on crop rotation and its importance to keep the soil fertile was discussed.

The session concluded with a discussion on the milestones in agricultural development where the focus was on different revolutions in agriculture along with technological revolution.

Students were made aware about the difficulties that the farmers face. They learnt the important value of respecting farmers and not to waste food.

Report on American College of Greece (ACGMUN)

Model United Nations 2021 - Global Unity

ACGMUN conference is a three-day plenary session conducted in English and open to secondary school students (ages 14-18). This year due to pandemic ACGMUN has run over the course of two days and it took place entirely ZOOM online. The conference served as a simulation of the United Nations and provided students the opportunity to speak on issues of importance in the volatile and troubling world. Through participation in the conference, student delegates increased their knowledge of diplomacy, developed critical analysis, practiced public speaking and negotiation, and developed friendship beyond borders emphasising on 'Vasudeva Kutumbakam'. The conference has five General Assembly Committees.

It was a 3 day Conference attended by 9 students from our school as 'Committee Workers' for the assigned country – Republic of Congo and teacher coordinator as advisor. The following students of school participated in the Model UN.

The rich Journey of Experience:

DAY 1 - Friday 19/03/2021

The students attended the inauguration through ZOOM and signed their virtual attendance. They got to know their respective student officers and delegates.

DAY 2 - Saturday 20/03/2021

DAY 3 - Sunday 21/03/2021

  1. The advisor's meeting was held for 10 min to know if any problem was faced during the session and to address the queries as they come up.
  2. The student's as committee workers worked on their Draft resolutions and proposals prior to the start of the conference to present during the committee meeting.
  3. Each student prepared 3drafts and 2 policies out of which 10 drafts presented by the student were passed with alliance with that of the other draft's representation from other countries.
  4. The closing ceremony was attended by all the students and the teacher at the end of the session.

The session was a wonderful platform and a golden opportunity provided to the students by the school management.

The thought provoking and constructive debate within an enriching Model of United Nations was the experience gained by all students was a learning. It inspired the students to take part in the following years to come.

Report on English Elocution Competition

"Words have incredible power. They can make people's heart soar, or they can make people's hearts sore. The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause". This quote so beautifully highlights the power of oration.

Sir A. Ramaswami Mudaliarbirth centenary commemoration inter-school elocution competition in English was heldon 18th of March 2021. The Chief Guest invited on the occasion was Ms.Meenakshi Anand, Honorary Editor, 'The Children Mail'. The dais had other honourable guests namely, Mr. Narayanan Hariharan, the Chief Executive, AMMF, Mrs.Kamakshi R.,Academic Advisor,AMMFand Mr. B. Nandagopal, Secretary of SRM School,Ambattur.

The topic given to the participants was The Role of Mankind in Environmental Pollution and Its Prevention. There were a total of 10 orators representing 10 schools, our school being represented by Mahak R. of class XI-B.

All orators had put their hearts into their oration charging up the whole aura of the auditorium. Absolutely exemplary was the speech rendered by our student, Mahak R. which went flawless right from start to end.She spoke about the best practices followed at TI School towards contributing to a safe environment. The points put forward by her were exemplary in content and delivery. As a result, she was declared the winner of the competition among the matriculation and other pattern schools. With that, T. I. School has bagged the Silver rolling trophy for a second consecutive year.

The Junior Nature Club 'Natural Colours' for classes 4 and 5 was conducted on 13.03.2021. Mrs. Geetha Rajan began the session with a recapitulation of the previous activity 'Micro greens'. Students of Class 5 shared their experiences on growing microgreens from seeds available in their kitchen. They showed potted plants grown by them through their camera and it was a virtual treat indeed.

Mrs. Vishalam intoduced the day's topic by asking a few questions to students about a rainbow and she explained the split up of white colour passing through a transparent medium into a band of seven colours' VIBGYOR'. Mrs. Yamini spoke about how the common molecules in nature are responsible for the various colours in nature. Mrs. Geetha Rajan explained how colours from vegetables and fruits are extracted and videos on the same was shown.

The felicitation function of Murugappa Inter-school online cultural fest was held on 15/3/2021 virtually.

Mrs. Kamakshi Adivisor AMMF, schools headed the function. Our Chief Executive Mr. Narayanan Hariharan felicitated the co-ordinators of Murugappa Inter -School Online Cultural Fest. The Principals of our group of schools were amidst the function.

The Prize distribution function of Murugappa Inter School Online Virtual Cultural Fest was held on 16/3/2021 in our school premises. Our Chief Executive Mr. Narayanan Hariharan graced the occasion. A few on-stage events of the Murugappa Culturals were performed by the students. Participants and prize winners were honoured by our chief guest. The teachers in-charge of all the events and the co-ordinators were appreciated by our chief executive Mr. Narayanan Hariharan.

Report on Junior Astronomy Club

The Junior Astronomy Club activities happened on the 13th of February 2021 for Grades 4 and 5 through Microsoft Teams online session. Students were introduced to the various features of the sun and appropriate videos to reinforce learning was screened. The latest news in astronomy – about Femto satellites was highlighted to students. Students raised doubts and the teachers clarified them. Selected students were asked to prepare PPT slides to share information about the sun with the peer group to make the session an interactive one. Students from grade 4 and 5 had a hands on experience sharing the important facts and improved their knowledge horizon.
