"In the trees, in the breeze, seek nature's peace and bliss."

Gone are the days when sparrows were a common sight that one would see while sipping their morning coffee or reading a paper out on the lawn. Today, spotting a sparrow amongst this concrete jungle has become an activity which goes by the name, ‘Sparrow watching’. Not many people are aware of this sad state of the pretty brown bird, because in the end, one doesn’t realise the value of something which has always been around and that exactly is the case of our ‘not so common anymore’ house sparrow. To enlighten many more people on this, we had with us Mrs. Sadhana or the Sparrow Queen as she is fondly known. She spoke on the issue and also gave us solutions through which we can mitigate the same.

For instance, she taught us to make cost-effective sparrow nests out of cardboard. She also taught us to make bird feeders out of plastic bottles and plastic plates. These were both innovative and eco friendly as it makes use of the waste cardboard, unused plastics at home and one need not run down to the stores for any supply. We all had an opportunity to try it out and it is safe to say that the sparrows have got 60 more homes now where they are welcome to stay. Her passion towards her mission and her inspiring talk drove us all to take a silent oath to help revive the population of the sparrows.
