Cycling Grade 1 Report - ``THE LITTLE ONES PEDALLING AROUND…``
“When the children arrive, the best you can hope for is that they break open everything about you. Your mind floods with oxygen. Your heart becomes a room with open windows.”
The COVID-19 pandemic brought a complex array of challenges which had mental health repercussions for everyone, including children and adolescents. Uncertainty, social isolation, increased screen time, and parental fatigue have negatively affected the mental health of children. These circumstances eventuated to the organization of the cycling activity on 4th of February 2022, in the kinder garden playground. The students of grade one had the privilege to participate in the activity.
On a bike, you can leave the stress behind and pedal your way into the carefree world. The rationale behind this activity was to rejuvenate and engage the children in activities beyond their academics. The school had received 5 cycles from TI Cycles of India. The students were divided into groups of 5 members who enjoyed cycling while the rest were entertained in the play area. “A pure soul seeks wishes in nature’s wild”. The students relished in letting their innocent, fearless hearts set free.
“Keep your child wild. Don’t make them grow up too fast.”
The senior student council members acquired the opportunity to interact with the children and enlighten them about their surroundings. The students acquainted themselves with their environment. During the session, they were also familiarized with the trees and butterflies around the campus alongside the vermicompost and the butterfly garden. Moreover, the kids were encouraged to communicate in English all through. Summing it all, it would suffice to say that the activity refreshed the minds and hearts of the children, and rekindled their wild hearts. Well, nothing compares to the simple pleasure of riding a bike.
